Spice up the Magick

Updated: Jan 2

It gets earlier every year. I used to be able to mark my birthday, Oct. 10th, as the start of Pumpkin Spice Season. Alas, here it is the middle of August and it has already begun. Nothing ruins tradition like capitalism. I guess we will just have to take matters into our own hands and bring the magick back to the mix. Maybe I should say mixture. Let's create intention while whipping up our own Pumpkin Spice.

READY IN: 10mins

YIELD: 1/4 Cup

Ingredients

· 4 teaspoons cinnamon

· 2 teaspoons ginger

· 1 teaspoon allspice

· 1 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions

1. Mix ingredients in a bowl and store in an airtight container.

2. After you make this recipe and taste it – you can adjust the spices to suit your taste.

So now what did we do here?

Well, the main ingredient is Cinnamon. There's a good all-purpose spice. Cinnamon brings Abundance. It promotes Healing. It offers Protection and ensures Success. We should be sprinkling a bit on everything!

Next in line is Ginger. Ginger is for Love and Money. It is also strong enough to protect both. Stir it vigorously into that cinnamon. Oooo yay

Now a bit of Allspice to attract a little money which never hurts. It also adds healing. Very nice.

Finish the spell with Nutmeg. It will bring Clarity. We want to use all this Abundance and Success in useful ways. Always for the greater good you know.

Stir this mixture clockwise, for sure, to get the best results. This deserves a fancy jar. You may want to give a few as Harvest gifts come Mabon.

Here's a couple of quick and easy ways to use your spice other than a sprinkle on your Autumn altar.

Popcorn of Abundance

READY IN: 5mins

SERVES: 4-6

Ingredients

· 1 (9 ounce) bag microwave popcorn

· 2 tablespoons sugar

· 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Directions

1. Mix sugar and pumpkin pie spice together in small bowl.

2. Popcorn in your microwave according to package directions, or your microwave settings.

3. Remove from microwave and open bag (be careful of the steam!).

4. Sprinkle pumpkin spice mixture over hot popcorn and shake up to distribute evenly.

Latte for Success

READY IN: 6mins

SERVES: 1

Ingredients

· 3⁄4 cup heavy cream

· 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin

· 3⁄4 cup strong brewed hot coffee

· 2 tablespoons sugar

· 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

· 1 dash nutmeg

Directions

1. Combine heavy cream and pumpkin in a saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly. Stir in sugar and spices. Heat just until boiling.

2. Pour mixture into blender and process on high for 20 seconds (be careful!).

3. Pour into a large cup, add coffee, and enjoy!

Now, okay, let the Pumpkin Spice Season begin! It just gives us more time to enjoy all the goodies. I wonder when Gingerbread Season will start this year?
